Joaquin Cardoner is an independent producer with a growing reputation for crafting critically acclaimed films. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Brazil, he developed his filmmaking career in Canada. His work has earned prestigious accolades, including the Grand Jury Prize for Best Live Action Short at SXSW 2025 and three selections for Canada’s Top Ten at TIFF. His short films have also been showcased at Berlinale, Locarno, MOMA’s New Directors/New Films, AFI Fest, BFI, Busan, Slamdance, Camerimage, and more.
Joaquin's first feature film "100 Sunset" written and directed by Kunsang Kyirong, had its World Premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, receiving Honourable Mention for Best Discovery, and is continuing its international festival run. It is the first-ever Tibetan language film to be made with Telefilm’s Talent Fund. Joaquin is in production of a documentary-fiction hybrid directorial debut by Canadian cinematographer Evan Prosofsky, and has a couple of feature film projects in development: including “In Blue”, a late-summer romantic comedy-drama set on the French Riviera with writer/director Sam Kuhn; “Waterfall of Youth”, the second feature of filmmaker Kunsang Kyirong; “Öö”, a period piece set in early 1900s rural Estonia with director Emily Kai Bock; and the debut feature film of Palestinean-Jordanian filmmaker Yassmina Karajah, currently in early development.
In addition to his film work, Joaquin has produced several commercials and music videos. He has collaborated worldwide with production companies such as Solab, Eddy, Blur, Asymetric, Iconoclast/Prodigo, OPC, HierSoir, Fela, and agencies including Wieden+Kennedy, DDB, Anomaly, Sid Lee, Young Astronauts, Kin, W&CO, Taxi. His diverse client list includes Heinz, Nissan, Zara, AderError, Tropicana, Budweiser, Uber, Google, Frank Gehry, ACNE Studios, and Netflix, among others.
