Joaquin Cardoner is an independent producer with a growing reputation for crafting critically acclaimed films. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Brazil, he developed his filmmaking career in Canada. His work has earned prestigious accolades, including the Grand Jury Prize for Best Live Action Short at SXSW 2025 and two selections for Canada’s Top Ten at TIFF. His short films have also been showcased at Berlinale, Locarno, MOMA’s New Directors/New Films, AFI Fest, Slamdance, Camerimage, and more.
Joaquin is currently completing post-production on his debut feature film, 100 Sunset, by Kunsang Kyirong. This groundbreaking project is the first-ever Tibetan-Canadian production to receive Telefilm’s Talent to Watch financing. Joaquin is also developing three upcoming feature films: a documentary-fiction hybrid directorial debut by cinematographer Evan Prosofsky (recipient of Telefilm’s Low Budget Regional financing); a late-summer romantic comedy set on the French Riviera with writer/director Sam Kuhn; and a period-piece horror film set in rural Estonia with writer/director Emily Kai Bock.
In addition to his film work, Joaquin produces commercials and music videos. He has collaborated worldwide with production companies such as Solab, Eddy, Blur, Asymetric, Iconoclast/Prodigo, OPC, HierSoir, Fela, and agencies including Wieden+Kennedy, DDB, Anomaly, Sid Lee, Young Astronauts, Kin, W&CO, Taxi. His diverse client list includes Heinz, Nissan, Zara, AderError, Tropicana, Budweiser, Uber, Google, Frank Gehry, ACNE Studios, and Netflix.
